The English name for the area derives from Snowdon, which is the highest mountain in Wales at 3,560 ft. Its a 2 - 3 hours walk/hike to the summit from the village below. Good views of the Irish mountains from the top.
The movie The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain is based on Mt Snowdon.
